What’s Behind the Name: Aventura Creative Spirit Studio

Aventura: Aventura is a Spanish feminine noun meaning "adventure.” The term broadly describes someone or something that is imaginative, artistic and spirited, often linking art with adventure.

“I named the studio Aventura Creative Spirits Studio because life is an adventure, and I have been blessed to have so many.  Life too, is also full of losses, and I have lost some amazing “Creative Spirits” in recent years – my husband Lee Richmond, my brother Michael “Jay” Sullivan, my brother in-law Thomas Richmond, my best friends Marilyn Ewer and Pat Cox. Through their inspiration and legacy, I am so fortunate to be able to steward Lucy’s vision forward. I am truly blessed!”

About Pam

Pamela Sullivan (Pam) is the owner of Aventura Creative Spirits Studio. She has spent decades supporting artists, creatives, and cultural organizations, both as a passionate community advocate and as a small business owner. She currently operates Sullivan Creative, a full-service marketing firm she has owned and run for nearly 40 years, known for supporting nonprofits, artists, and creative ventures.

Growing up in the Northeast, Pam and her late-husband, Lee often visited New Mexico. During one of their many travels to the Southwest, they discovered Madrid, and shortly thereafter, purchased property just outside of town. They visited frequently and in 2023, Pam made Madrid her fulltime home.

Pam is actively involved in the community, serving as Chair of the Arts, Cultural and Creative Economy (ACCE) Council for Santa Fe County, President of Madrid Water and a committed volunteer for community events such as Christmas in Madrid.

Prior to living in Madrid, Pam served for five years as Executive Director of the Women’s Rural Entrepreneurial Network (WREN) in Bethlehem, NH. WREN is a nonprofit dedicated to improving lives and livelihoods in New Hampshire’s North Country through entrepreneurial support, market access, and creative and cultural programs. Under her leadership, WREN successfully reemerged as a resilient force in rural economic development.

Pam is delighted to continue building on what Lucy Barna created at Alchemy Studio. She plans to offer classes, workshops, and technical support to artists in many aspects of starting, growing, and expanding their businesses. The gallery will also host regular openings, exhibitions, and creative workshops for the community to enjoy.
